Questions

Everything you might be wondering

Is refinancing your home loan worth it?+

Refinancing can be worth it if it helps you move to a lower interest rate, reduce your monthly repayments, consolidate debt or access equity. Whether it suits you depends on your loan size, how long is left on your term, any exit or setup fees, and your goals. A free review compares your current loan against up to 45 lenders so you can see where you stand before deciding.

Does a mortgage review or refinancing affect my credit score?+

No. Getting your free review does not involve a credit check and won't leave any mark on your credit file. A credit enquiry only happens later, with your consent, if you choose to formally apply for a specific loan.

How much does it cost to refinance a home loan in Australia?+

Using Review Your Mortgage is completely free and there's no obligation. If you decide to refinance, lenders may charge costs such as discharge, application or valuation fees, which a specialist will explain clearly upfront so there are no surprises.

How long does it take to refinance a mortgage?+

The online review takes about two minutes, and a specialist usually calls within one business day. A full refinance to a new lender typically takes a few weeks from application to settlement, depending on the lender and your circumstances.

How much equity do I need to refinance?+

Most lenders prefer you to retain at least 20% equity (a loan-to-value ratio of 80% or less) to refinance without lenders mortgage insurance, though some options exist with less. Your review estimates your equity and LVR so you can see what's possible.

How many lenders does Review Your Mortgage compare?+

A free review helps you compare up to 45 Australian lenders by getting you in touch with a qualified mortgage broker. Your broker reviews your current loan against their lender panel, including the major banks and a range of smaller and specialist lenders, to help you see whether you're still on a competitive deal.

Do I have to switch lenders after a review?+

No. You're never obligated to switch. Sometimes the best outcome is staying put or asking your current lender to reprice your rate. We give you a clear picture either way and you're always free to do nothing.

Can I refinance to consolidate debt or access equity?+

Yes. Refinancing can let you roll higher-interest debts like credit cards or personal loans into your home loan, or access built-up equity for renovations, investing or major expenses. A specialist can explain whether it makes sense for your situation and any trade-offs involved.

Is Review Your Mortgage legitimate and licensed?+

Yes. Review Your Mortgage is operated by EMBR Group Pty Ltd (ABN 27 147 278 153), a 12 year old company based in Australia. We provide a free enquiry and referral service and we're independently owned and not owned by any bank or lender. We partner with licensed mortgage brokers who are Australian Credit Licence holders or credit representatives, and that broker provides any loan comparison, recommendation or credit assistance, under their own licence and Best Interests Duty obligations.

What happens with my details after I submit them?+

When you complete your review, we pass your details onto a licensed mortgage broker (an Australian Credit Licence holder or their authorised credit representative) from our network. They'll contact you to walk through your options, and they're legally required to act in your best interests under Australia's Best Interests Duty. We don't sell your details to anyone else, and you're under no obligation to proceed.
